Godmother Sports was founded to support the development, mentorship, and visibility of young female athletes. Built on decades of experience in coaching, scouting, and grassroots sports leadership, the organization focuses on helping girls gain the skills, confidence, and exposure needed to succeed both in competition and as student-athletes.
The organization was created by Lisa Bodine following a 30-year career in basketball that included coaching, national player evaluation, and founding grassroots development events such as the Rites of Passage Middle School Showcase. The showcase became known for identifying and supporting young talent at an early stage of development and featured athletes who later rose to national prominence, including Azzi Fudd, Angel Reese, and Juju Watkins.
Today, Godmother Sports continues that mission by promoting mentorship, athlete development, and increased visibility for girls in athletics. While the organization was originally rooted in basketball, its mission has expanded to support girls participating in multiple sports, reflecting the growing opportunities and impact of women’s athletics nationwide.
Through events, mentorship, and community engagement, Godmother Sports seeks to empower the next generation of athletes and ensure that talented young women have access to the guidance and opportunities they need to succeed.
